So what is a fair price to have them installed at a shop? I'd prolly take it to pep boys or something. I live in augusta, ga and I'm not too sure of any of the locally owned shops around here. Alot of them have ridiculous hourly labor.

Also with this kit that I provided the link will I need anything else "options" wise for the install to make it the best possible? Is this the best kit I could buy 3.73 wise?

If you have a friend with the proper tools, you should install the gears yourself! Also, when you do the gear swap, grab some AMSOil or Royal Purple fluid for the change.

Well I live on a military base and never have time to do something like that. Plus I wouldn't trust myself with such an install. I'd rather have it done professionally...

That setup from American Muscle has royal purple gear oil that comes with it. Or are you stating that I need to buy more?

When I replaced a few things in my rear a month ago, I used just under 3qts, their kit I think only had 2.

WOW...Do not try a rear gear swap yourself! This is one of the most difficult installs to get right, especially on the s197. Find someone very experienced to do it, or wait until someone becomes available.

I know it sounds scary and doing it wrong is definitely bad but, if you have the option and know someone with experience, do it together. The knowledge you will gain is invaluable.

If OP had time, he could use a lift on base and make it 10x easier

If a shop does it and after the install it feels very tight and a little sluggish to get going (or whines something awful) take it back and have them put a new crush collar in and torque the flange nut properly - NO IMPACT WRENCH.

For appearance, you can't go wrong with Agent 47 mirrors. Paint the teardrop body color and the stem black. Easy install and It wiill set you apart from most. Also a deck lid blackout kit. I used the cheap decal version, and after two years it still looks great.

Cut your antennae in half, then use a dremel tool or grinder to shape the end and reinstall the ball with super glue. It is free!

Def. don't do the gear install yourself! This is extremely difficult espesially in these ford rear ends.. The guy who installed mine was a hair off and they whined. Took them back out and put a brand new set in. Have the shop supply the gears or they are out of your pocket if a common mistake happens.

for appearance you can do alot of big things if you want to like new wheels, chin spoiler, window louvers, lower the car. But some small things i definitely recommend are a shorty antenna and clear front turn signals.
