Default Gas pedal out of touch with engine ???

I have an 05 GT automatic. Last night as I pulled away from a stop sign I thought my engine died. turns out it was still running but lost communication with the gas pedal. I stopped, cycled the key once and everything went back to normal. How common of a thing is this and should I be concerned? Engine light never came on.

Never heard THAT one before. At first I thought you were discussing throttle lag but what you described is simply no pedal response.

It was just like in the old days when the throttle cable would pop off at the carb, except now there is no cable. I did talk to a Ford tech yesterday who said that was rare. He said it may never happen again.
Anyone else experience this???

Never has happened to me. How many miles? Stock tune? Have you ever cleaned the TB and changed the fuel filter?

55,000 miles. Just bought it used so don't know all the answers.
I have been driving it a bit since. It has never happened again.
Checked with a Ford tech who never heard of it either and said it may never happen again.

Wow run into new things everyday!! At this point you may have to wait until the concern manifests itself again, more frequently or worse symptoms. All the throttle concerns I have experience with have led to bad throttlebody electronics, 55k is young for malfunction but it could happen. What I would do is remove the T-body and clean it make sure there's no carbon/oily build up. Who knows what kinda crappy maintenance previous owner performed.

I would guess this is the fuel pump air bubbles issue.

Did you get a wrench light on the cluster when this happened? I could actually be either the tp sensor or the accel pedal sensor. Could be a loose or partially pushed out wire somewhere too.
