Default Possibly buying a 07 GT

Hey guys, I'm new here and hope to have a mustang soon. So my problem is that I found a 2007 GT M/T, with 35,000 miles on it, one owner, $14k. However it was in a front end accident, airbags deployed (think only one airbag was deployed and later replaced). There was no structural damage, and the engine seemed fine (ex. Radiator was perfectly fine and tightly secured). Also when we test drove it the car operated smoothly. Apparently it was a fender bender, but for airbags to be deployed.. I'm not sure about that. The dealer said "mustangs have strong frames, and the accident hit one of the front sensors which caused the airbags to be deployed." But I don't trust dealers so idk. The previous owner crashed the car in 2008 serviced it at the Ford dealership and he kept the car for 25,000 more miles and 5 more years, so the fact he held on to it for a while longer gives me hope. And the dealer confidently said I could have it inspected. I need this car to last me through college and long trips from VA-FL. I need the advice of mustang owners before I do anything, and I don't want to rush in. Thanks guys.

See if the guy has pictures of the accident and damage. The fact that the car was in an accident isnt the real concern here, its just a bargaining tool for the price. What is really important is whether or not the damage was fixed properly or not.

I'm not sure what details a CarFax report would turn up but it's worth a try. Have the dealer run one for you or do it yourself since most dealerships can't be trusted.

I'd definitely have the car inspected by an independent shop but it'll be your coin, although worth every penny to know if the car is sound or not and what history a good mechanic can identify.

These S197's have a fairly reliable history as far as domestics go. A few forum members are pushing the upper 100k miles and a few are over 200k with not many significant issues turning up. These engines thrive on the highway.

I don't think $14k is a bad price if the car is sound. I have an 07' GT MT with 39k miles, very lightly modded and I'd be lucky to get $15k-$16k, IMO.
