2008 Mustang GT Voltage Issue
My alternator recently went out. I replaced it with a 200 Amp PA Performance alternator. Now that the new alternator is in, the car's voltage fluctuates badly and it runs very rough... Any ideas?
Took it to the shop to have him check it out and he said that the car requires the factory alternator. I have read a ton of people using the 200 Amp PA Performance one just fine.
I'm lost.

Did you change the wiring for the new alternator? Stock wires are supposedly too thin for high output alternators, then again I'm running a 220 amp powerbastards alternator with the stock wiring and it works just fine. Maybe you got a bad one.

I'd suspect a faulty voltage regulator which is internal to the alternator. Contact PA Performance or who you bought it from. BUT before that I'd disconnect the wiring and clean the contacts, just to be sure. Many an electrical gremlin have been due to a dirty contact.
