LED Conversion problems!
Hey folks, so I am in the process of converting all the exterior lights of my Mustang to LED. I have replaced the rear side-markers with LED strips and I am now working on changing out my turn signal bulbs to LED. Easy, right?
Apparently not. The bulbs I purchased were these from AmericanMuscle: https://www.americanmuscle.com/raxiom-led-turn-signal-0513.html On installing them I got the expected hyper flash, and so I installed resistors the following week. It is here that I am stuck. For some reason the driver-side LED bulb will not turn on when plugged in. I thought the bulb was defective, and so I had AM send me a free replacement. Installed that, same problem. So I then moved on to think that the bulb socket was defective. Ran over to AutoZone and purchased a new one for $10. Installed it, SAME DAMN PROBLEM. I honestly don't know what to do. It seems the problem began when I installed the resistors.
Some things to note: Even after the resistor installation, my OEM bulbs still work. I've also noted that when I insert the LED bulb into the socket, as soon as it touches the metal inside it turns on, but then as soon as I click the bulb in completely, it shuts off. I've tried wiggling it around but for some reason it isn't getting a connection anymore.
So what do y'all auto-electricians out there think? Will I need to go as far as replacing the entire pigtail connector harness? Or should I just abandon ship for now and move on to the next project.
Some input would be appreciated. Thanks y'all!
