What is a MGB
Ok I was asked in the tech area and didn't want to steal that post. As some know and others that don't. I am a British car nut. So that is my login name. MG Man 75. I have owned one and now more. Total of 5 present. Now what is a MGB? It was produced in England from approx 1962 to end of import to USA in 1979. Some were even built with a v-8 from factory.

Now I have a restored MG Midget. It is a 1975 I bought with blown motor in 1989 with 36000 miles not has 45000. That is me in blue shirt behind car. Note height of car compared to waist that is not trick photography.
Now the present project is a 1977 MGB. Bought out of guys backyard for 400 and drove home. Now for the changes. Remove rubber bumpers convert to chrome bumpers and grill, change the dash to chrome style, change both front fender to chrome style, change the rearend to 86 turbocoupe limited slip with approx 10" cut out of it, add efi pump to original gas tank, change all gauge to autometer, change to tube shocks from lever shocks, convert front shocks to coilover, install 2.3 Ford turbo from 86 turbocoupe, probably water intercooler, add air conditioning, add power steering by add turbocoupe steering rack, install modified wiring harness from the 86 turbocoupe, install turbocoupe steering column [solved wiring issue], c-4 automatic, shifter modified to look like standard, Dakota digital shift indicator, electric windows using original window handles to operate the window motors. All this to be done after replacing both floorboard, rocker panels and one rear quarter panel. presently mockup is done. One side of floorboards done. Worked on the quarter panel tonight.

RE: What is a MGB
Do those people live under rocks??!?! EVERY TIME I open open up a used car trader, a book on classic cars, or just about any book on cars, there is something about an MGB, MGA, or Midget. There are like 60 MGs in my area, including an orange MGB in my back yard (not mine). Seriously, MG was about the first car companyamericans bought after WWII, and we they were sold in the US up until probably the late 80's. Come on, people, you call yourselves car enthusiasts? Pssh! RE: What is a MGB
I drove the MGB for about a year. I converted bumper within the first month of owning it. Lowered the rearend and new grill. Had used bumpers at that time. Going with new now. Also changing dash and console to the one in a chromebumper car. Good thing about the rubber bumper cars. Engine area had been modified for a Rover v-8. But few were installed. Here is some new pictures not much to look at. I at the stage now removing rusty panels and installing new. Also doing subassemblies. Heater box has been modified go go from 2 speed heater motor to 3speed with more air volume. AC is separate no room in car to combine without major cutting. Also have the 86 turbocoupe rearend cutdown. Using the wheel came with turbocoupe. All new brakes, wheel cylinders, cables etc. Not the lug nuts I am going to use.
Been working on rear quarter last coupe of nights. Barely got it welded in here.

Had to replace floorboards and rocker panels also. Remember after this side still got another side to do. Ever drillout that many spotwelds I have.

RE: What is a MGB
Yes that is just picture of floorboards. Had to drill out quarter panel. MGB rockers are made up of 3 pieces of metal. Drill them out also. Like said got other side to do. If anyone curious I had spotweld cutter bit. Junk. Use a split tip bit works beautiful.
