Cool Fuel pump problem

Hi, I have a 1992 mustang with 2.3 and I jumped a positive wire to a wire hoked up to fuel pump relay on firewall to get pump to run non stop. Once tank was empty I removed wire and hooked back up. Now fuel pump will not stop running when key is on at all. Just wondering if you could tell me what I messed up and how to fix. Car floods out and will not run like this.
