Default Bypassing the heater core on 89 Mustang

My heater core has unfortunately gone bad, and I won't have the time to fix it for a few months. I need to bypass it. I know where the hoses I need to connect together are, but I'm unsure how I would go about doing that. Would I need to get a small section of pipe to do it with? If so, what size?
