Default V8 to 2.3t swap

Im sure this does not get asked much, but what would be required when swapping a carbed v8 to a newer 2.3t? Is it just new engine, tranny?, wiring, and the fuel lines?

I really love my stang and couldnt stand to see it go, it is just super impractical with a 3spd auto and a carbed v8. Its not an original V8 car so i wouldnt mind doing something unique with it.

Yes! Finally someone is making the right choice lol.

It will be difficult, and time consuming, and a little ego busting when you buddies find out what you did, but worth it depending what rout you go.

Depending on what year engine you end up with, you will need the engine, transmission, motor mounts, possibly drive shaft, entire wire harness (or at least all wiring for all sensors, ignition system, fuel system, etc), instrument cluster, ECU, fuel pump/sending unit, and I'm sure many more things I can't think of right off the top of my head.

If you swap in a n/a 2.3, you will be dissapointed of the performance. Going from a v8 to a 2.3 on a stock tune will suck as far as performance. your looking at probably less then 1/2 the hp than what you have now. The only up side will be the reliability and the gas mileage.

If you still want good performance and the better gas mileage, grab a 2.3T out of a Murker, Turbo Coupe, or wrecked SVO, along with everything else mentioned above. With a little work, you can have more HP than any stock mustang 5.0 while keeping visits to the gas station at a minimum.

haha yeah there is no way i will be putting a a n/a 2.3 in it. My first fox was a 1990 2.3lx hatch. To date that was the slowest thing i have driven.

Thanks for all the great information though.
