why in the heck did this happen!
ok. me again. today on the way home i was driving my mustang. i was at a red light, light turns green so of course i speed up. well i let it go up to about 3000 rpm in first gear and i shift to second. now when i get into second gear i decided to stand on the throttle and run it through the gears. this is really the first time i've done this since i've owned it. well i ran it up to about 5000 rpm in second gear, was happy with what this car can do, and decided ok i'll just shift into fifth. well when i did that it grinded 5th gear. i shifted from second to fifth fairly quick, the clutch was pressed all the way, and it still decided to grind. why the hell did it do that! i mean really. it's a low mileage mustang, and it wants to be a little difficult. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

it was probably mad at you for shifting it from first to fifth. your fast like to go from second to third seriously id try it out a few times, shifting from 2 to 5 was probably why you probably cought it between 3 and 5 a lil bit,

I had my 1998 do that to me from time to time. It has something to do with going from high RPM to such a high gear. You more then likely wasn't going very fast and the transistion from high RPM to low speed caused it to grind. It's nothing to worry about. Just don't go from 2nd straight to 5th with the engine revved up so high.
