Starting Problem..Help
Occasionaly (starting to happen more) i will turn my car off, go inside, come back like 45-55 min later and my car will just turn over...i have done nothing to it yet motor wise, and this problem is really pissing me off.. it is making my car unreliable... so i will leave it alone for 20-30 min, sumtimes it will start rite back up, other times it will take a minute... the engine turns over, but nothing after that, it just keeps turning but doesnt catch. ive eliminated the possiblity of it being the battery, could it be the fuel..?
after i get it started, it runs like a champ... i need help...!!! please

its called "heat soaking" your starter is soaking up the heat

You have to determine if it's a fuel or spark problem!

When the car just cranks and doesn't start, here are some things to look for.
Listen for the pump to prime when you turn on the ignition to the run position. If it doesn't, most likely it's a bad pump or relay. It would be ideal to be able to read the fuel pressure though.
To check for spark....
Pull one of the spark plug wires. Stick a screwdriver in the end of it and hold it anout a 1/2" away from a metal part that is grounded.( engine bracket, whatever) Have some one crank the engine and watch to see if the spark jumps to ground. If it doesn't, than do the same thing w/ the coil wire. If that does, than the problem is in the secondary ignition system, ie, plug wires, cap rotor. If it doesn't, then you have to find out what in the primary circuit is failing, ie, coil, module, pick-up coil.
Start w/ those and see where that gets you!!

i had the same problem a few months ago with my car. sometimes i wouldnt get fuel...sometimes i wouldnt get spark. i had 3 different shops look at it they couldnt figure it out. i also had to pay for a new fuel pump that they installed and it didnt fix ****. i finally took it to the ford dealer and it turned out to be the PCM.
