RE: Heater Core
You should just change it....
Get in your car
Unbolt the dash
Pull it Off
Theres a black box on the right hand side
thats where your core is
pull it out
put new one in
bolt it back up
your done

RE: Heater Core
If you need the heater core, cuz dont let anyone tell you it doesnt get cold in phoenix in the early morning in January, replace it. Its marked as like an 8hour job so its expensive for only a $35 part. I bypassed mine when i bought it in minnesota in december, yeah thats a bad place to live w/o heat, but when i got back to texas i pulled the dash and ripped out all the HVAC stuff... unfortunately now i have 3 pretty large holes in my firewall i have to weld up but its alright. the hvac box and related equip weighed like 45#'s, but i'tll make it harder to sell if the day ever comes around. I did it all in like 3 hours, but there are a **** load of bolts and god help you if you mess up your dash. Kinda wish i'd just replaced the heater core while i was in there cuz of the resale part, that and central texas(more desert, I hate the desert!) gets cold enough at times too. But when I go back home it'll only be a summer car anyways.
