it could have a cam, i camed a stock motor and it improved it. have u done a tune up?
Yeah, I did a complete (I think) tuneup within the last month. It made absolutely no difference. So let's explore this cam idea. Is it typical that an owner may opt to upgrade his cam while he has it in the shop to, say, have his water pump or timing chain changed? Furthermore, is it likely that, at 105k miles, the car has at some point had either of these things worked on? My car does feel a bit faster than other stock GTs I've driven. Any thoughts?

Yes. The timing was initially set at SIX DEGREES when I bought the car. I then drove it for a while with it set at 12*, before finally tuning it to 14*. The idle hasn't changed throughout.

Oops, I lied. There is plenty of vacuum at those lines...at the correct rpm. Boy, those ford guys are clever, aren't they.
