Default Used T-5? how much

Just out of curiosity how much do you all think a used t-5 tranny should sell for? I made a couple calls and got prices like 6-800 bucks and that seems pretty high to me for a used tranny. what do you all think??

Ill help you out when my trans went I reasearched the hell out of trans and the cost of used, used rebuild, and gettting a rebuild. SO.
Used srtaight out of a another mustang>>>>anwhere 300-500 is about right holds stock HP/TQ, I ve seen used go for as low as 250 so. there dime a dozen
Used rebuild>>>>550-800 And 800 tops, they sell use rebuilds w/ upgraded syncros, that handle 350flbs TQ for 800, so if your spending 800 shop around for upgraded, cause for that price thats what youll get
New T-5 about 900-up, its reall not worth going new, though its new, its capacity is still stock 300FTlbs TQ
Getting a trans rebuild Incl: bearings, upgraded syncros, seals...if you take about 550-750 depending on the place I paid 650 to have mine rebuilt, w/ upgraded syncros and bearings...I took them the trans tho, 750 if they did it.
Aftermarket: tremec, tko, FRPP, G-force>>>>anywhere from 1100 to 2000 G-force kit is 2000 and tko around 1500.
Best bet for trans, do it right the first time, meaning just go out and get a aftermarket, cause unless you keeping the car stock, theres no point in putting a stock trans that handles stock power, when youll be moding and break the trans, youll end up buying another T-5
Dont get in the World TRash T-5 cycle...it gows like this you get a stockt t-5, you mod the car, T-5 breaks, you rebuild it, mod some more, T-5 breaks, you build the trans up, mod some more, it breaks, your like sh*t, ill get an after market....Instead of that, just go out and get the aftermarket in the first place, and save the 1500 youll spend fixing broken t-5's..take my word, ive broken 4 of them, and im not reall modded yet, stock t-5 are wak to begin w/ 89' and below can only handle 285ftlbs tq, stock they come w/ 300. so figure, just a word of advice.

When it comes to trannys you get what you pay for. I made the mistake of getting a rebuild put in my 88gt and a few months later it was shot again. I only had a few mods, but they were enough to put too much stress on the stock tranny...not to mention i think I got screwed by the mechanic that found and put it in for me. The post above is pretty accurate as far as pricing goes. T-5s can be good trannys, but they definetly have their limits. when mine goes I'm going the aftermarket route. One thing is for sure, put it in yourself. If you pay a shop to do it they'll charge you about $500.

well the shop was going to charge 300 to take it out, i was like F- that...So i took it out myslef, its easy, I can tell you step by step if anyone is interested, I have it memorized, everything down to the size of each bolt in the process, Ive done it about 6 times so far, shoot it takes longer to put it on jack stands than it does to take the trans out. I can do it in 1 hr tops, take my time too, smoke breaks etc.

One of the local guys here does G-Force T5's for 1200 using your case. You might see if someone local will build you one. There are also several places online that sell them. The G-Force or a T56 is my next tranny when this one goes. BTW, G-Force has a T56 kit too..Mmmmmmmmmmm
