Default Maintaining gear ratio w/ new tires.

So, I just put 3.55s in my rear (on my car, you dirty birds). I am currently running 215/60/15 tires all around. I want to put some 235s on the car, but don't want to sacrifice any "gear"--I like the final ratio right where it is now. I was just looking at a gear calculator (which still listed the wrong info for my setup), which stated that, in order to maintain a similar gear ratio, I would need to run 235/55/15s. My questions are:
1. Do these calculations sound correct?
2. Are 235/55/15s available?

Wow dude, that is a little intense thinking that you are gonna mess your gearing terribly by matching the sidewall percentage. But yes if you want the same sidewall, that is correct to less then a millimeter of a difference.

Thanks for the reply. Intense? Maybe. I was just surprised how much of a difference tire size makes in gearing. With the money that I just spent to have my gears swapped, I want to keep every bit of gear I paid for.

The size in the 2 tires is so minimal there won't be any noticable difference.

That's good to know. So even if I put 235/60/15s on, I shouldn't feel a loss of acceleration? Thanks again for the replies, folks.

not at all... in fact, I d really say step it up to some 245/50 or if you drive a stick, 245/55
The stick likes a little bit more sidewall during launch.... Becasue with more gearing, you will need more traction, and I really don't think you'd notice much difference in gear with even the 245

That was what I was trying to say that you were a little intense trying to make sure your sidewalls were equal height (never hurts to be intense on such a decision though, always helps to ask), it is so minimal becuase where it counts is the circumference of the tire and will be very minimal difference to matter, now maybe on a 4" tire (a wheel barrel size) Then sidewall percentage might be critical
