Default Headers and H-pipe.

I know this has been touched on briefly in other posts, but I want some concentrated opinions. Assuming I already have Flowmaster mufflers, how much power would come from a set of shorty headers and a new H-pipe. Although I'd like to hear some dyno results, seat-of-the-pants is good too.

on a stock 5.0 you're looking at gaining max 15-20hp rear tires.... on one like mine for instance with a pretty much stock motor with a cobra intake and a blower, you could gain 40-50hp total with the right exhaust.

Think about it.... the only reason exhaust makes you go faster is if there is that much burned goods coming out of the motor... that means also coming into the motor....

Let's say you have a hose that is 1 inch wide and 6 inches long and you have water dripping into it..... It's not restrictive at all.... Now you put a funnel on the top of it and pour in a gallon of water into the funnel..... now that one inch hose is really cutting you back and a 2 inch or 3 inch hose would flow way more, and make the water fall through faster... it's all in the motor

Me neither....well, maybe in a turbo application going from a chambered muffler the diameter of a straw to an open downpipe.

I would say from the headers and an offroad h pipe you are looking at around 10- 15 extra hp? Although the offroad h pipe was by far my best mod so far just because of the sound. I noticed the most "seat of your pants" hp boost as well but i havent done headers yet. Once i get my gears in though I am expecting that to take over as my "best mod"

I'll let you know next week after I install my BBK ceramic shorty headers and Bassani X-pipe. Already have the Magnaflow. Should be some noticable gains.

Haha, Was that supposed to be a joke? Or were you actually being serious?

And never compare exhaust to dripping water through a tube, it's a completely different thing, now you're just telling people bigger is better, which is not true, it's tuning it where you're going to get your gains. I could have a 5 inch pipe on my car, and a guy with a 2 inch pipe that's tuned would tool me. Bigger is not always better. There's high and low pressures in exhaust, I don't see any highs and lows with dripping water through a hose. Also simple logic tells me that more volume is coming out than going into an engine.

Something tells me you don't have a supercharger on your car, or any mods at that to even think that, because if you did, you would know how a car works and what gains you can expect from certain mods.

You're looking at 5-10 gain at most, exhaust doesn't do too much for the money, but the sound does make your car make all the ricers turn and run in fear.

Those numbers may be off but prob not too much.... if you have a stock motor w/ a blower and throw a full exhaust on there you gain a decent amount of power.
