I smacked it on both ends .... with a hammer on extension ...... still absolutely no movement. Also tried a little heat in case there was something like loctite applied , although it has never been apart so it would have been factory.

The picture is 'as found' -- as you can see, it almost appeared as though the front had been hit --- although the rear is not as high as it would be with a new key.

Obviously , it should come out -- I'm hitting hard enough to almost be too hard. Like driving a sixteen penny nail have way in with one hit ......
