RE: Calling all guru ignition gurus
I am bankign on the EEC dude, there is no reason for that to be happening did you change all your engine relays yet? Ford racing sells a package for 120 bucks that has new 02's and full relays its would be a cheap fix to do that or a computer.

Does the car not run right or is this something that you just noticed?
The computer believe it or not will advance the timming even more when the RPM'S go up. If you take your timming light with the spout connector plugged in and rev it up a little you can see the advance continue to go up. Now it shouldn't go up to much more but that is normal.
Is there a drivability issue with your car?

The issue is pulling to a light and it running 1500 rpms from time to time and seems to have done everytime today.
The car runs great no problems as far as actual drivabity goes. Today while trying to figure out why it was idleing so high just so happen to have timing light handy and checked it and found it at full advance. when it idles normal my total timing at 3000 is 36 degrees but why is it advancing itself while at idle. Thought maybe the iac might have been kicking the idle up but unplugged it and didnt change anything. Thats when I thought to check the timing.

Spout unplugged it does not advance.
No other problems right now anyway.
Tired of people looking at me like im a short bus rider when it hangs.
Also the cables not hanging and the t/b is clean as whistle.

Morning.....
The need to get the codes out of the EEC-IV is obvious, otherwise you could be throwing money at the problem w/out the assurance it will get solved. The symptom you describe is typical of an intermittent TPS that increases its output voltage after it gets hot at closed throttle, but need to confirm that is your case with a DIY KOEO/KOER self-test.....if the CEL doesn't work, use the test light/VOM alternatives explained in the link provided, but getting that information is key, even to id if the ECM is the culprit or not.
Other possibilities are:
- Wiring problem
- Faulty IAC
- Contact problems at the salt & pepper connectors(fix I suggest you do anyway, if you haven't yet)
- Bad ECM
Try the other alternatives to run the self-tests and let us know what you find out.
