Tim,

How would I know if I need this done to my EGR? I ran some codes and the EGR came up. What does the EGR do anyway?

Not sure really. I just did it because i removed the EGR but i have not made a block off plate yet. A new egr was 130 bones, my fix a .99 for a coke

 

The egr recirculates exhaust gases and helps prevent engine detonation. The problem I am assuming Tim had was the same thing mine was doing. The cel would flicker under certain throttle positions. What happens is, the pintle of the egr position sensor wears after time and becomes out of range. It can no longer sense valve movement at the onslaught of the ecm's request for valve function therefore causing the light to flicker. I'm not sure if this was the case w/ Tim's but just an educated guess based on what he has done.
