shifter
i support anything from b&m and hurst. i dont really know off the top of my head who else makes stuff for autos. i havnt owned an auto since..well..since i could drive. but if you're having problems getting into a gear with your auto you might have some internal problems in the trans.
no i can manual shift my tranny if i need to but i would love to get me a differnet shifter put it in 2nd and leave it. mine currently if i wanna keep it in 2nd gotta wait to shift down to first after 30-35 then it stays in 2nd.
anyone that knows the stock shifter knows first and 2nd on a auto is on same one so strip i either leave in drive or i manual it i do good at manuallin it though but here lately last time i was down had to shift back up to drive gettin to close to redline in 2nd in the quarter
Manual valve body is the only way to have second in an AOD I believe. A good shift kit and you don't need to hold it in second. The shift kit will shift the car at the best RPM for your car. I heard it's hard on the tranny to hold it in second by putting the shifter back to first after it has shifted, but I still do it once in a while. Speaking of trannys lets include the SROD before the C-4, man where they junk!
no, with the aod you need a manual valve body in order to change the shift pattern. you can reuse your stock shifter too, the letters just won't line up. you can not just buy a shifter to change what happens in the transmission!
