Hey guys I want to put a shifter in my 88 LX auto in my car and I was told I need to know what type of tranny was in there. Is it a C4 or a C6? If no one can tell me can someone tell me where to look to find out?? Thanxs for any help you can give me!!

I know it's a AOD!! I'm asking if I have a C4 AOD or a C6 AOD(if there is such a description) I want to get a shifter so I can find 2nd gear instead of going from 1st to 3rd when I shift it manually. I'm not interested in putting a manual transmission in it(No time or money for that right now) I just want to put a shifter in it for now. If anything can you give me a link to a place that would have it? Thanxs for the help in advance

C4 is a different tranny all-together. There's no such thing as a C4-AOD. It's just simply: AOD, all there is to it.

c4's and c6's are old technology. well..so are aods but aods are what replaced them. there is no c4 or c6 aod its just called an automatic overdrive transmission.
