Default Pro 5.0 Shifter

I installed a pro 5.0 shifter on my t5 and it has been a PITA to shift since. It feels like the shifter is binding. I have had it in for over a month now thinking it was just the springs. The car shifted fine with the stock shifter and I have driven other cars with the pro 5.0 installed and they don’t feel close to the same. I have never installed a shifter before; it is a pretty straight forward install. But is there a way that I could have messed it up? Also does the bushing go bad inside the Trans where the ball of the shifter drops into the Trans?is it possible that i could have put it in on an angle?

Think carefully; did your trans shift well before installing the Pro 5.0? If it truely did; there should be no problem.
I'd remove the shifter & make sure the bushing is there & that when you "stabbed' the new shifter in; you did indeed hit the hole. I've never seen a "bad" bushing; but i imagine if it was in really bad shape; bind could occur. But, you should be able to feel that sloppy side to side play very easily....IMHO

i do remember the car shifting well before i installed the shifter. but i could not shift fast now for the life of me. i was trying to shift a couple of time higher in the powerband (like 5k) after i put the new shifter on and all i could do was grind, so i stopped and just babied the trans for the last month trying to break in the springs. lastnight i was trying to practice my launch's so i could give the car a go at the strip and the shifter just doesnt want to get into gear easy once the car is moving

O BTW the trans does shift fine when i am stopped... i am able to easily slid it from 1-2 and it feels like it wants to jump into gear! how the shifter is suppose to be.

Where are the shifter stops set at. I would take it back apart and see what's up.

i set the stops a 1/2 turn from being in gear. i know they say 1 full turn but that was wayyy to far. but w hen i did have the problem at first i backed the stops out and it still didnt help. but there is more then enough room for the shifter to slip into gear, like i said i can get it into gear when i baby it in but it is really tough to get in. but when the car is not moving it feels really good.

I FIXED IT!!! it was the bushing that the shifter it self pivits on. i didnt even notice there was another bushing on the shifter and when i pulled it out it must have spun over so the shifter was way out of alignment. beware anyone with a pro-50 shifter there is a bushing on the shift rod and where it comes pacled with white grease when you pull off the gold ring to put the rubber thing on that covers the hole in the floor. make sure you pull the rod out and reset the bushing because the grease hold it in and mis aligns it. thanik you all for your help though!
