Default Whats a 5.0 bottom end good for?

Stock rods, Crank, Pistons, with ARP hardware. Whats it good for Hp wise? Ive heard only 400 by some and as high as 500 by others...then they're are people running 460ish and 480ish on stock bottom ends...So...whats a realistic estimate?

right around 420-500. it depends on mileage, maintenace, and the rpm the combinatin will be spun too.

a safe tune also helps.

Ok...let me be a little more specific....how about a fresh engine (15,000 miles). Meticulously maintained. Not dogged and never spun past 6,000

they make good anchors

just kidding.
the block is weak point, anything past 400rwhp and you're walking the line

plenty of people in here running 10psi blowers and heads for 400+rwhp and
seem to be doing fine.

if you want to push 500rwhp i recommend a 351W.
comes with stronger crank and block stock

Stock block, rod, crank, spun it to 7200 and made 592, worked for awhile on the street till the TFS heads took a dump

see i wanna put about 460-470hp on my pretty much brand new bottom end. im only gonna spin it to about 6k. This is with an ATI D1-SC Pro charger running like 8-9psi...im going to try and run as little boost as possible. I dont want to break anything.

The problem as I understand it comes from the block flexing under the higher HP numbers. A main stud girdle can help as can partially filling the block with block fill, but then you risk overheating problems. It's funny because some blocks hold up very well and others break, it's a matter of getting one of the "good ones".

well from what i understand, most 5.0 blocks are generally good up to about 650 or so hp. Anything over that and your pushing it. But even after i get a better bottom end im only going to put down about 570 or so...i dont want any more than that. Its all i need to do what i want.

But heres another opinion oriented question....about where will 460-470hp put me quarter mile wise?

Heres my stats...
I got a Tremec tranny on the way.
I have 3.73 gears.
4 cylinder springs under the front
no front sway bar.
car weighs about 3000lbs with me.
im about to get some 90/10 struts for the front.
Mickey THompson E/T's

Thats all i can think of.....

Just any guesses....Im thinking somewhere in the 11's. My last 1/4 time was a 12.5 @ 106mph. So....and i cant even remember what my 60 was. Its been a long time.
