less rotating mass should give you more power at the wheels.

It should be one of the last mods you do...even after suspension and chassis. You won't notice any difference just changing the driveshaft....it's just less rotating mass on your drivetrain.
From every thread I've read on the subject & my own "butt-o-meter" say you will not notice any difference. But inertia, reciprocating mass reduction, and\or weight reduction were not the reasons I bought one. It was to help reduce drivetrain harmonic vibes with my 4.10 rear gear installed & that is exactly what the aluminum driveshaft did....IMHO

lightweight drivetrain makes it alot easier for the motor to turn, thus maybe freeing up a horse or two. best part about alum fly and shaft is that it makes it easier on everything and takes some strain out of your drivetrain.

I hear if you loose too much rotating mass, you can start bogging on launches because you don't have enough inertia in your rotationg mass, I don't think lighter is always better.

i dont think you can loose much more than the shaft and flywheel. that dont make sense to me. seems like the easier it is to turn it, the quicker and better it qwould be[]

I don't know, just what I've heard. I've seen people put heavier flywheels on to aid in launches....I don't know, I can see some reason behind it.

it seems like the less weight it had to turn the easire it would be to turn. making it able to turn it quicker. (it being the drivetrain of course) but i wouls like to check into that. i dunno

That shouldn't be a concern with Mustangs and most easily available clutch/flywheels. Put in a 4" Quarter Master, & it will definitely be a b!tch to get going, but that's out of our price range.

Less weight would spin up faster, but more weight will take more resistance to slow....heavier drivetrain will have more inertia. For example, roll a 6 lb bowling ball and stop it, then roll a 16 lb bowling ball and stop that...the heavier one is harder to stop.. So on a car if you have more rotating mass, technically you would have a better launch.

exactly... it helps with "torque"
