on the drivers side. i got out and locked the car, they worked fine. i got back in and tried the locks nothing not even a noise or anything.

now they only work on the passenger side.

wheres the fuse and u guys think ill have to take the door apart?

If they work using the passenger side door, fuse is fine.....the problem could be the driver's side door switch or......a problem in the wiring bundle that flexes everytime the door is opened/closed..... Quick check....open the door and while pressing the door locks switch, "wiggle" the wiring bundle between the front of the door and the frame(careful though, you don't want to close the door while your hand is there).....opening and closing the door takes its toll on that section of the wiring, and they are a PITA to repair....believe me. Let us know what you find out.

well thanks for that info. like i said passenger side works fine.

ill go out there and start playing with it and update you in a bit

oh yeah, for whats it's worth, the power windows work fine.

that sounds like your switch like joel stated. you dont have to take the panel off to get to it just one screw. Those wires and contacts get corroded.

well i went out there ready to take it apart

i sat down and the windows were up all day so the heat was tremendous. anyway as i turned the key on (engine off) and put the windows down... i tried the locks. they worked. i tried them repeativly and fast, they worked good. passenger side still good.

i even wiggled the little tube with all the wires in it around, still worked.

oh well one of those days [8D]

Believe me....if the problem is in the wiring bundle, it will do it intermittently....some times I have to open the door a bit, so the power window starts working, after that, it works all the time in my '86.....until....it does it again.
