box intake
I got an 88 'stang converted to mass air with some bolt ons like pulleys, 2 1/2 inch exhaust (no cats), mac headers, cold air kit(fenderwell), 3.73 gears, and harman box intake. the hartman is identical to comp powerbox and i know is for upper rpm power, but are they really any good? Jeg's says 20 more horsepower and .3 in 1/4 over a stock intake on a stock engine. Is this accurate? Also is this intake nitrous safe? I'd like to add a zex kit.
all intakes can handle nitrous, box type intakes are good for top end motors, turbo's or nitrous that youll squeeze on the upper rpm of the motor, make your the rest of your motor is ready for it. And for the 1/4 mile times, generally I found that most companies advertise certain hp gains or 1/4 mile gains, most the time its not true, they over rate there product...Kinda like getting 15 hp from a CAI, thats not true on a stock motor, but if you had a 408 stroker with stock intake where the intake is limmiting the power, then add a cai you prolly gain what they say. take it kinda as a guide, but expect lower youll gain prolly like a couple of tenths depending conditons.
Yeah that was my first question when i came here

thanks for the link pw429, it was pretty helpful i guess. i really didn't learn anything i haven't heard before, just wondering if anybody ran one and could give me real world feedback. i suppose the jeg's add is just messing with me you know, 20 horse on STOCK engine. perhaps it was a waste of $100 on ebay when i bought it. i guess the nitrous might have to wait if this intake needs replaced.
