Default 408 in a 95

I am considering buying a 351W and stroking it to 408 and putting it in a 95 GT while retaining the EFI.

WIll 351W will bolt right up to the 5.0 tranny?

Will i be able to use the bolt-ons from the 5.0 on the 351W?

And i heard I had to get a new hood because of clearance, is this true? any recomendations?

I think it should bolt up to the stock tranny, but why would you want to use it? With that much displacement, its not going to hold up to well. The taller 351 will require a new hood.

The trans isn't the only problem, you might need to upgrade to a torque arm capable of handling the increase in torque that a 408 will bring. Bigger brakes would be good too.

Wow, that's quite a swap. [:-] You're going to need to change a lot, but yeah the transmission will bolt up to the 351 block. It would be a bad idea though because you'll rip that transmission to pieces with that much more power. The T5 is barely adequate enough to handle the stock 5.0. You will also have to get a 351 EFI lower intake because the 5.0 lower intake isn't wide enough to fit between the 351 heads.

try www.lentechautomatics.com they do heavy duty AOD's and can make one to take the power of a 351 I'm sure and you'll have the advantage of the overdrive too. or else get a C-6 tranny from anyone of the many transmission companies out there. I bought an extreme AOD tranny from Art Carr Performance for my racer and it is a killer with a full manual valve body and no overdrive. don't have any experience with current generation 5 speeds, so I can't say anything about a manual tranny.

If you want a manual, Tremec just released 2 new models of the TKO, the TKO-500 and TKO-600, built to handle 500 ft. lbs. of torque and 600 ft. lbs. of torque respectively. They cost about $1500-$1600 everywhere I've looked. Those should be enough to handle your engine, unless you plan on pushing the envelope even further.

or for around 1000 you can take the T-5 and put in a G-Force kit with new gears that will handle 600 hp and 500 lbs of torque. The TKO only handles like 400 hp and is alot more money. But what you decide is up to you.
