Default Intake Gaskets

Hey i just recently put a new Edelbrock intake on my 5.0. I was wondering if it matters what gaskets i put on with it....i know that Edelbrock recommends certain gaskets but i was wondering if it really mattered if i used different types?

I've Put On A Lot Of Intakes And Always Just Went With The Good 'Ol FelPro Gaskets. I've Never Had Any Problems With Using These. I Do Know That You're Supposed To Use A Bi-Metal Gasket If You Are Running Aluminum Heads On A Steel Block. The Reason For This Is That The Aluminum Heats Up And Cools Off Quicker Than The Steel Block. This Means That The Heads Expand And Contract A Lot Faster Than The Block. This Is Supposed To Tear A Non Bi-Metal Head Gasket Over Time. As Long As Your Gaskets Aren't Leaking, I'd Say You're Probably Alright With Whatever Brand You Went With.

May as well go with the good ones, they're usually not too expensive and it's not something you wanna have to replace later on.

my recomendations would be use Fel Pros but dont use the cork ones that go on the front and back of the block. They tend to leak VERY FAST. Instead make like a 1/2" of silcone glue that you would use to hold down the gaskets with.
