Crate or no crate?

Crate or no crate?
I'm thinking about buying 347 z head crate motor rated at 450hp for $6500 and while it's being put in having a torque converter and shift kit put in. I have a reliable shop that charged $300 to put in 4.10 gears. How much would be reasonable to pay in labor to have them put the engine, converter and shift kit in? Is the crate motor a good idea and if not what should I do instead?

Well do you plan on doing anything else to the motor? Or is that right in the area you want to be? If not is the crate motor setup for what you eventually want to do? Motor swaps might cost you a pretty penny. Not really sure.

typical easy engine swap should cost about $500-600.
It should only take 1-2 people the better part of day to do it.
Shift kit proably run about the same plus parts.
Crates are ok if you not into having something custom built
Have you looked at 351W crates? better engine than the 347 imo, and usually cheaper.
no problem making them fit.

RE: Crate or no crate?
The reason I am thinking 347 is because I don't want to change the external dimensions of the engine. I don't want to have different headers or motormounts and I want to keep the same deck height so I don't need put a larger cowl hood on it. That and 450hp is just perfect and I don't want to spend too much time and money and not get the combo right.
