Default Loose Pilot Shaft

I bought a transmission recently, and the 30 day warranty is up. The only thing thats wrong with it is the pilot shaft. Its a little loose and when you spin the clutch, it makes a semi-loud grinding noise. It seems like this can be fixed pretty easily, maybe a few bearings inside of the transmission, or something like that. Am I right on that? Also, about how much do you think a transmission place would charge to do something like that?
Thanks

are you talking about the input shaft, if you are then it is normal, youd be suprised at how much it will move up and down. probably a quarter inch either way. i thought something was wrong with the 4 cylinder tranny i put on my 5.0l but its normal.

I attached a picture of what I'm talking about.
Thats also another thing I wanted to ask about. I have a 4 and 8 cylinder tranny. I bought the 8 cylinder and have no clue how it does. I've had the 4 cylinder one since I've bought my car. I'm in the process of doing the conversion right now and I know the 4 cyl. performs well. Although I didn't know how it would do controlling all of the power the v8 put out. Is this cool? How would I get the 4 cyl one to fit. Someone told me to put copper tube over the end of it to make it fit. But I think that would give out under all of the spinning it would be doing. I think I can get a new bushing to make it fit and that seems safer. Although at the time I didn't know how the 4 cyl. would hold up under a v8
So what do you think? Get the v8 trans fixed, or mount up the 4 cyl. Pros? Cons?

that is just the alignment tool to lign the clutch up so the input shaft slides in properly. i coudlnt tell you how long the 4 cylinder tranny will last, iv had mine in a month and im fairly hard on it, 3rd and 5th are on a planetary gear so if you are hard on them they will break i never powershift third. my car has been runin like **** lately so thats prolonging the tranny lol. first gear is absolutely useless. the 4 cylinder tranny bolts up you just pop the round thing out of the middle of the v8 bellhousing and bolt the bellhousing onto the 4 cylinder tranny. nothign else dont even need to change driveshaft. if you are going to put it in i would advise having an extra just incase. i dont but im a rebel
there alot tougher then people think.

So, you're saying it doesn't matter if that moves?
Although it makes a loud noise if you spin the clutch on it. If you spin the clutch on the 4 cylinder it doesn't make any noise.
You cannot move the shaft on the 4 cylinder....I'm extremely confused. my apologies
