how hard is this to do??
Hey, got a quick question. I just got my lowering springs for my 92 coupe today. What is the easiest way to switch the front springs? How long do you guys think it would take to install all four? Thanks for all the info.

RE: how hard is this to do??
Hey, I just put all new springs in my 92. This is how I did it: jack up car then lower it so that the a arm rests on a cinder block. Unbolt strut tower bolt, then the two spindle bolts, unbolt the sway bar end link and (I can't remember if you need to, but i also removed the tie rod) then stand back and raise the car off the cinder block. Mine didn't shoot out or anything, but i suppose they could, but once the car is up you can move the a arm enough to pull the spring out, then put the new one inm lower the car to compress it and get it in place, then bolt back together. For the rear, onbolt the shock under the hatch, and the quad shocks, then jack the car till the rear end swings down enough to pull theold spring out. As for how long it'll take...I dunno you, I can tell you it took me maybe a little more than an hour to do each side up front, and about the same for the back, so maybe 5 hours or so.

For the back there's no way it should take you an hour. You should be able to unbolt the shocks and then just raise the car using the body and take them out. The front I don't think you need to do all of that, just the struts. As long as you do it gradually you shouldn't have to worry about them shooting out or anything. Most of the stigma about springs being dangerous come from coilovers.

RE: how hard is this to do??
i just did this on mine over the winter, i bought my stang and the dude that had it screwed it over and cut the stock springs with a torch. Made it feel like a POS honda. when i went to put in my motorsport springs, ill be hoenst it took me forever. first i couldnt find the right spring compressor to fit the sprnigs to take them out. the front gave me all hell and than some, the back wasnt as bad but main problkem for me was finding a place that had the tool to do it. most of the spring compressors out there are made for newer hondas and imports as thats a major thing for them, i liked how my old stang looked. i had stock springs on it just put on some air shocks on the back and jacked the back up a few inches, lowered the front , and gave it a nice rake look to it. great thing was it looked bad *** and fast, yet it was a 4 banger. RIP to that car!!!!!!
