??Code 31: EVP or PFE Circuit below minimum voltage??
So I have had me tester for 5 or so months, ran the test and got 31 months ago. Never really looked into it. Decided to go out today, and the same thing came up. The CEL had been of for quite some time so I never bothered. Anyone know what this means? Kind of on my nerves because I don't understand how I am getting less then 30miles on a 1/4 tank. Replace air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, o2's, and cleaned the injectors (hopefully that lucas stuff works). Any help would be great.

Well, I did a quick look up and says something to do with EGR, but when I cleaned mine months ago it solved my issue of idle surge, what else could it be? Time for a new EGR, seems that it works since there was a drastic change when I cleaned it.

Thanks for your guys response, definately would make sense why my mileage is shot... Is it one of those things worth just replacing to cost factor? I really want to solve this problem because in turn I might save lots in gas. I did notice a really gassy smell when I put turn downs on my car. Like I could gas a car up with it. How do I go about doing a vacuum leak on a 5.0? I really would love to solve this issue. When 31 comes up, is it more likely a fault commonly caused by egr failure? I see that I can get a new EGR for $36 made by wells, is it worth a shot?

Wow, no wonder I am giving you guys false information, the thing I cleaned that solved my idle issue was the IAC, not the EGR. So the EGR could be completely at fault/destroyed. $36 is looking like an easy fix. If you guys remembered at all I did have lots of cooland go into the intake from the TB to EGR plate gasket, could coolant destroy this puppy. I had pulled the code 31 before that though previously.

Keep in mind that the EGR valve and the EVP sensor are two separate parts....code 31 means that the sensor output is below its minimum passing value of .24vdc. The EGR valve could be fine, check that it holds vacuum, opens and closes freely...if it does, the EVP sensor is the one that could be requiring a replacement. FYI check the information at http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=35 . My 2¢.

I saw that early, it didn't really define how to maintain or check it, how would I go about checking the voltage with a VM, turn the car on engine running or off? Also how do you check for a vacuum leak?
