I would also double check your cam....if it's not in correctly where the arrows line up the motor will NEVER start.
Does it crank over? Mine did that, but wouldn't start and ended up being the dizzy. I didn't get it stabbed correctly.

We had loosened the rockers completely and took them totally off the valvesprings on the number 1 cylinder when we ran the compressed air through the cylinder. We also took a hammer and hit the valvespring a couple times and the valve still stayed open taking the crank all the way around. I'm pretty sure it is bent valves.
