Default Fuel Problem????

Ok i got the air/fuel gauge hooked up and when my car is idleing it says that it is as far over to the lean side. then when i am going at wot it is almost all the way rich. So i have no idea what could be wrong. the check engine light isnt on. So i am guessing that this is also why the car is pinging even at about 7 deg adv. so if anyone has any suggestions it would help thnx.

hook that thing up to a computer and get it tuned on. that pinging is detonation and that is not good. trust me i know from experience.

at idle the lean condtion could be caused by a vacuum leak or an incorrect reading from the TPS sensor or a bad IAC motor letting in too much air for the fuel the injectors are shooting in. could also be bad O2 sensors not reading the exhaust properly. I agree with Buzzstang, you need to get it somewhere and on a computer to really troubleshoot this problem and correct it. it is better to be too rich at WOT than too lean though and some computers tend to make them run way too lean at WOT.

Default RE: Fuel Problem????

ok i went to autozone and got the car scanned for codes and i got with engine off 22,33,41,91. with engine on i got 94,44,33,18. all of these are related to fuel and timing so i am going to have to get thses fixed. but one was egr valve not opening or something. so i took it off and it was jammed and filled with junk. so i cleaned it and got it functioning normaly. so i have to wait till the gasket former dries so i can try it and see if this helps.thnx for the advice
