What is this thing?
In the picture below, there is a device that angles out of the firewall. My heater core is throwing a fit at the moment, spilling fluid all over my foot. But there is also antifreeze coming out of this hole. It wouldnt be such a problem, but it leaks right onto the exhaust. (Poof! People might think I was a wizard with all that white smoke!)
What the hell is it, and how should I block it off. I plan on ripping out the heater core in the next couple days, and I figure it has something to do with this.

if u got an 83 the cores are alot easier to do than the 87-93 cars go ahead and get one before u blow a head gasket! or by pass it since its summer and then make it a winter project!

+1, you can get at your heater core thru the glove box hole, MUCH easier

And yes, there is smoke coming from the inside of the car. For a while it has been just a tiny bit, but today I think the heater core just gave up, because once fluid spilled on my floor, the steam came through the vents. I swear, people probably thought I was hot-boxing the car
Its good to hear the removal is pretty simple. I know its time consuming, but I'm tired of that gagging antifreeze smell. (Oh, and green tinted socks!)

definitely dont wanna drive around with it like that
i was goin down the highway just cruisin in my chevy and BAM. antifreeze all over my floors and even on my feet and boy that **** was hot. now imagine dealin with this goin 80 down the highway in traffic. couldnt see out the winshield i rolled down my window and drove like ace ventura all the way home
ill never forget that day.. f*ing chevies [:@]
