I got a problem ,my car was not running up to par so i changed the fuel filter and it straightened out but now it backfires when reved high(like 4 to 5k )could that be if a head gasket was shot?[8D]
I don't think so, but you could rule out a blown HG with a compression gauge. Maybe you have a vacuum leak somewhere, causing a lean condition and backfiring. Or maybe it's still not getting a good fuel supply for some reason. Did you change both fuel filters?
umm isent backfireing caused by to much fuel? its not all being burnt so its expelled though the exhuast
Well, this is what I know, then you can tell me if it's correct. With carbed motors (bikes in particular), if a motor is backfiring on decel, it is always a lean condition. If it were rich enough that it was backfiring, there would be other symptoms--namely a cloud of black smoke, and no MPG. Now, I don't know whether this applies to fuel injected motors. Maybe the computer can compensate for a lean condition, so that backfiring is actually due to a rich condition. School me on this, because I've been wondering.
i was talking to my dad and he mentioned a hairline crack in my distributer cap, could it be that easy,i will get one cause i need a new one anyway so i will let u all know.
