Default 1988 Brakes

I have a 1988 Mustang GT, the rear wheel cylinder (drvr side) blew up and I did not realize it until my brakes failed totally due to NO brake fluid. Will the cause damage to either the brake booster or master cylinder? I am doing front tomorrow and replacing the faulty cylnder. I put brake fluid in but have to pump the brakes to get pressure. Is this due to air in lines, or do you experts on brakes think its a combination of MSTR CYLNDR / BRK BSTR damage?!?! Any help is appreciated

Best regards

Adam

my guess (a little bit of brake experience) is that there is indeed, much air in the lines. Bleed the **** out of the brakes until you're down 2 bottles of dot 3 and stop there. Should work. I would GUESS that you didn't cause any damage to neither the MC or the booster, but again, that's just a guess.

You see, neither of those systems are moving very fast nor are they moving the frequency needed to cause failure due to no lubrication, so they should work once fluid is in there and it's bled.

That's just a guess though, good luck man!

I don't think it would of damage the booster or the master cylinder. One thing to keep in mind is when you change one wheel cylinder it is good to change both right away because of the pressure pushing on the cylinders. Once you get the wheel cylinder on bleed the brakes in the right sequence the sequence is this.
Do these in order and it should get all the air out from the back looking at the car.
Right Rear
Left Rear
Right Front
Left Front
