Timing Fixed, but still pinging??? Help!!!
Alright, so my 95 gt was pinging pretty hard under load, and when accelerating hard (funny thing is that this only happens during summer), so I started a thread concerning that, and we concluded that the problem would most probobly be the timeing. So I checked the timing and I went Whoa!!!!!!! I though that if the timing was advanced to much the engine would ping, only my timeing did not come out advanced, but retarded. If I am correct, the timing should be set to 10 degrees, but mine was set to 2 degrees! So I was not sure If I sould advance it back up to 10 because if she was pinging pretty hard at 2, imagine what it would sound like at 10. The thing is that I advanced it anyway, but the pinging pretty much sounded the same. So know this mechanic tells me that It could be a sensor on the pully, or that the computer is advancing too much during hard Accelartion.
Any suggestions on what my next step would be in order to fix this pinging/knocking horrible noise.
I guess the noise kinda sounds like if you were to hit an engine block with a weedeater. I dont know how else to describe it, but the mechanics say that it is pinging for sure, but one said that there is a possiblity that it could be the valves that are floating during combustion.
Thanks for you time, and suggestions are greately appriciated.

Start by pulling the codes.
If a sensor is bad, it might show. If so, your fix will be easy.
Have you removed any of the egr?
I have a fox so maybe I am just ignorant, but I have never heard of a "pulley sensor" so I call BS.
The computer will not just advance timing because it feels like it. If the computer is advancing timing excessively then it is because of a bad signal input from one of the sensors.
Not sure if that will help at all, but good luck

now is the car all stock? anything major, minor done to it?
When was the last time the fuel pump and or filter replaced. After I did a H/C/I swap on my car the stock fuel pump wasnt enough pump for acceleration and caused A LOT of pinging, so I imagine that a pump thats going bad and not producing enough fuel for the engine would cause it to ping, same thing with the filter not allowing enough fuel to pass through it.

How hot is your car running during the summer? I know this could be a stupid suggestion but maybe you are starting to overheat which is causing you to ping, check your coolant level. Sometimes its the most obvious things.

Sorry about this question, But im a rookie when it comes to engines. What do you mean by "EGR". You know, I have not changed the fuel filter for about 2.5 years (DAMN). Maybe that is the problem. I'll have it changed asap. if it still does it, I'll check out the codes. Thanks for the advice!!!
