Default aluminum flywheel/driveshaft?

Over the coming winter I had planned to do a clutch replacement (probably a McLeod Stage 2, but other ideas welcome). At the same time, I was hoping to replace the (slightly leaking) 302HO rear main seal, and also to do an aluminum flywheel and driveshaft. My Stang is a 94 GT vert that I drive on the street/hiway. I'm interested in performance and handling, not owning a dragster. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help with.

First, I've had a number or people who are "sure" that the 302HO has a two piece rear main seal. Others swear it has a one piece. I've never actually had the opportunity to find out from experience. Does anyone here know?

Second, since I'll be driving this on the street, I'm interested in a reasonable amount of street manners. A couple of people tell me that the alum fw and shaft will ruin that, and maybe even do a good job of helping me blow the synchros in the tranny. I'd love to hear fome someone who has done this with a 302HO -- how did it work out for you?

Thanks in Advance!

I think the seal is a two piece but when people replace it they use a one piece instead. Also, you shouldnt have any problems w/ a aluminum driveshaft.

I've never heard of an alum flywheel and driveshaft ruining a tranny. Maybe because you have to change your shifting habits a bit and they end up missing shifts or popping the clutch too much?

As for the rear main, don't worry about what it is. Just ask the parts store for a one piece rear main. Felpro give you the option.

Im running an aluminum flywheel and driveshaft. The previous owner did the shaft and we did the flywheel. I cant tell you the different between teh aluminum and stell shafts but the flywheel makes the car a lot of fun to drive. It makes the engine rev a whole lot quicker. Onc eyou get used to it its just like driving a car with a steel flywheel (not as easy to stall). The rear main seal is a one peice. The older engines had a 2 piece. You can get a new rear down at your Ford dealer.

Thanks Guys! I sure figured that if there was such a problem with the alum. stuff that I would have heard about it by now. But you never know, so it's great to hear it confirmed.

Thanks again
