Default Dulled headlights

As far as the smoking up or general wearing out of the 87-93 headlights, what's the normal procedure for these? replacement? repair? is there an aftermarket source that doesn't have this problem?
I have 89 LX convertible that needs quite a bit of work as far as I can tell, but then I'm fairly new to mechanical work.

You can get some 1000 grit sand paper, wet sand them, then spray them with some clear coat from a can. It will make them look as good as new. If it doesn't you can go to http://cjponyparts.com and get some new ones. That is were I got mine for $110 for all 6 up front.

Cheapest way to do it. Is get some brake fluid. It sounds dumb I know but it works. Just get a clean shop rag, put some brake brake cleaner on the rag and rub on. You have to use some force but it will help.

What about drilling out a hole at the bottom of the headlights for drainage is that recommended or no?

That's pretty f'n ghetto my friend.......I'll go try it now.

Thanks,
Ivan
