u have to remember the t-stat opens at the temp it is designed for however the temp actually will get up to 15 deg more then that and the radiator fan will keep it constant..

thus why 160deg t-stat gets u 170*-175* engine temps and 180 can get u to 195*+

another way to get a better seal is to upgrade to a billit housing that uses a o-ring to seal instead of a traditional gasket..

I did mine in an hour or so. The only thing that can really be a pain is that water bypass hose (I think) that runs to the water pump, since it's short and is at a terrible angle. Put a little bit of grease on the inside of the ends of your hoses so they'll slide it with no problem.
