Default 5.0 or 5.0 HO

Well..my camshaft has given out and i had to buy a new one as well with new roller lifters...well today we tried to install them but whenever we had the engine out and apart trying to turn the crank shaft i would not budge. After losening the piston brackets it finally turned...the thing is my mechanic says he is spectical about puting the engine back together and cranking it he sais it might blow the bottom out....anyways i'm running a 1990 5.0 engine running carburator....he has another engine i could buy...a 5.0 HO Fuel Injected for $600 The question is wich one will give me more performance and peak power? Opinions suggestions? please let me know what my options are at this time...THANKS

Your camshaft gave out, so you replaced "them"? What's them? And if you're working with the camshaft, what's the crank got to do with it? You doing a complete rebuild?

That fuel injected HO will do you no good unless you get the computer to go with it.

Though you could swap the carburetor set-up over to the new motor.

It seems funny that your mechanic can't "fix" yours, but has another one he'll sell you? How well do you know him? Sounds a little shady to me.

From what I've read (no experience) either carbureted or fuel injection can get close to the same HP. Although, from what I've read fuel injection is more expensive. Also, I would be leery of someone telling me my stuff is messed up when they're trying to sell me something to replace it.
