The bottom part is the bushing that is required to adapt the nut thats on the sender to the threaded hole in the intake manifold. So the smaller one should be on yours as that is the one that the tube for the sender goes through. I really dont recall seeing a grommet in there, but I dont have an actual gauge in front of me too look at either. You did use a bushing in the intake?

yea but i dont have the nut on top.... and my gauge is the pro comp but its the same other than the top nut(smaller one) isnt on mine

The bigger one goes into the intake, then the probe sit inside that. The probe has a ring around it so it wont slip thru yhr bushing adaptor and it keeps the smaller nut from comming off. That ring around the prob is there so when you tighten down the smaller one it will pinch it there and seal it tight. I just went thru the same thing

so i guess im gonna have to buy a new gauge cause i cant remove wither end of the wire to put o new nut on and i wouldnt be able to fix the ring around the probe problem.... this f*ken suxs

Your ring around the prob might be a little different, but you will need the larger nut that is threaded on the inside and the outside. You shoun't be able to lose the smaller one, that is on the probe(probably the one you are trying to use)I would go back to where you got that one and get a different one.

see how it is missin the smaller nut.... it has the ring on the probe i was wrong but it is missin the nut i followed the whol wire and never found it so thats kinda weird??
