Pulling Trans, Any Surprises?

About to pull the transmission out of an 89. Anything tips/hints I should know before getting at it?

its not that bad to do really, i'd mark the drive shaft flange at the rear,
so you can bolt it back exactly the way it was

An auto isn't that bad. I did mine myself. The hardest part is the top 2 bolts but loosening the motor mounts and letting the motor tip back makes them easy to get with a long extension.

Loosen the motor mounts....lower the crossmember and tip it back..you have to take that off anyway, no need in making extra work

yeah surprises are there!

your EXHAUST WILL BE RUSTED and hard to get off the headers. Its best to grind off the studs and replace with nut and bolts/ washers from hardware store.

2. drain the tranny fluid from the pan. soak driveshaft bolts with rust penetrant. I caught HELL REMOVING EXHAUST FROM HEADERS.
