Oil pressure

Oil pressure
I have a 88 5.0 and my pil pressure seems low. The needle is normaly at the second line above the first line on the stock oil pressure gauge (about 10-20). If it is my oil pump, how hard are they to replace? I know i can get a nice oil puimp from summit for about 70 bucks, but dont know what is required to replace the pump. Isnt the oil pump in the oil pan? If thats the case, then it is just taking the oil pan off and replaceing the oil pump or what. Please let me know any info.

Autometer is fine.
I saved a few bucks and got a summit racing oil pressure guage, with no problems
for a quick test, you can remove the "bell" near the oil filter. this is the oil pressure sending unit. There is a nut (5/8?) under the base of the bell that can be loosened to remove it.
You can use an old A/C pressure guage to measure oil pressure, or buy a kit.
for the quick test, screw in the oil pressure/ac guage, start motor and check oil pressure
you can get an aftermarket oil pressure guage (autometer) and hook that up. you will have a "dead" oil pressure guage in the cluster
(I have this set/up)
or you can get a T-fitting from napa/murrays/autozone. Its either a 1/8" npt or 1/4" npt. its written in houlahan's book, I forgot.
hook you bell on one part of the T and put the autometer guage sending unit or tube on the other part. put the third connection on the motor and you have both stock and aftermarket guages.
you can
