Just got an 88 hatchback lx 5.0 efi
Traded my 78 F-250 for this mustang. It came with a new block in it but all the bolt on and plug in parts were in a box. took me two days to figure out the dog leg mount for the power steering pump....Anyways. having some trouble: my driver side exhaust 02 sensor is heating up when I turn the ignition on. as well as my alternator. Any ideas. or is that supposed to happen?

yeah the o2s are supposed to do that. if you want to check for any other problems the best thing you can do is Check Codes
