NOTE, I forgot this is only in like 4th and 5th gear......... Rarely 4th, I hear it when im in fifth doing like 45ish at 1500

Just a guess but maybe there is not friction modifier in the rear oil. Ive heard that can make them whine/howl.

The gears are not shimmed right, That is what is making the noise. The gears need to be removed and installed properly with the correct size shimmes.

Its called saving gas buddy.
That's called wasting gas and lugging the motor. Either way, my rear howls at 1800 rpms in fourth, and then at 2500 rpms in fifth. I plan to get it fixed soon though. From what I've been told, it will just cause premature wear to the gearset and possibly bearings.

Oh, and it started howling after a botched gear installation at a reputable shop. It works fine though...for now.

Yeah man, 45 in fifth? I do 45 in third 3000-3500rpm, good ole 2.73s on a T5.... <-- which I hate!

**** i go 45 in OD on my car sometimes when its straight away or downhill. Its not gonna lug if you dont need to give it gas I wouldnt try it going up hill in any way shape or form tho!

hell if i know, i just shift when the rpms sound like they are getting high.


how much approx. will this cost to get reshimmed?
