You guys are giving the LT1's too much credit.

When I first got my 92 lx I put on a cold air kit, LT's, O/R H-pipe, flowmasters, Pullies, 3.73 gears, all the free mods and nitto 555 tires.
My buddy had a 95 auto Trans-am that he raced me in. I beat him be 5 cars with stock heads, cam, and intake.

If your racing from a stop all you need to do is not roast your tires off the line, have the mods I had and your golden.
If your racing from a 40 roll and you have 3.73+ gears don't bother cause he will beat you.

Stock Auto Camaro And Trans-am LT1's run around 14.2-14.5 in the quarter with a couple rarley in the 13's.
Stock 5spd 88-93 5.0 LX's with mild bolt-ons and stock heads, cam, intake will run high 13's easy.

I ran a 13.1 With stock heads, stock cam and an Explorer intake with all the other bolt ons, 4.10's and slicks

Its the LS1's you have to worry about!

thank u very much for that... people do overestimate them .... trust me they r still fast and very cool cars but they are nothin next to an ls1....... so far i have bbk off road h-pipe and magnapack catback eit 14* timing bump, no air silencer, 3.27 gears and an auto... im hopin that a 70mm tb, bbk cai, 73mm mass air, equal length bbk shorty headers, transgo shift kit, control arms, subframes, trickflow manifold will get me a LT1 kill.... i think it will....

You should, but the 3.27 gears are holding you back beings you have an auto. I would recomend 4.10+ gears in an auto and 3.73+ gears for a 5spd.

Well, having both owned a '95 Z28 (275 hp LT1) and a 2001 vette (350 hp sock LS1), I would say unless you have lots of mods and maybe a supercharger, you won't come close.

My 275 hp Z28, w/o even h/c/i, with just full bolt ons and 4.10:1 gears would have kept up with my '95 Stang when it had the 9psi powerdyne and all bolt ons. The Mustang was only something like 300 to the wheels with the S/C, Edelbrock RPM intake, MAF etc, full exhaust, no CATs etc..

If your car is modded to hell, you will win. If you guys have the same mods, he will win. However, the handling of the F-Bodys way outclass the stock Mustangs. Sorry. Don't plan on running him too fast.

I'm currently putting in Twisted Wedge heads, and now have 11 psi S/C. I'm going after the new Z06's
