03 cobra with supercharger

RE: 03 cobra with supercharger
try a different forum. This is the 5.0 area.
But wait, you want a bigger pulley? For less boost? Interesting.
Lots of people it seems go the other way, putting a smaller pulley on so they make more power. Find a SVT Lightning forum and see if somebody is upgrading their truck - I've heard the oem Lightning pulley is a great swap for the Cobra.

Why would you want a smaller pulley??? [sm=rolleyes.gif]

If you increase the diameter of the accessory (in this case the supercharger), it will spin slower in relation to the engine. Look at a bicycle - the front sprocket represents the crankshaft, the rear represents accessories. When you use the biggest front sproket (crank) and smallest rear sprocket (accessory) you go fast (make more boost, more electricity, increased power steering assist, etc.).
That's why when people with stereo systems put an underdrive pulley on their crank (smaller), they usually put smaller ones on their accessories as well, to keep the alternator spinning at OEM speeds to prevent dimming lights.

Wow, I always wondered if there was a way to have both a nice stereo system and underdrive pulleys at the same time. I never even thought about also decreasing the size of the other pulleys. Makes a ton of sense now that you've brought it up. What size pulleys do people normally use for the accessories if they use underdrive pulleys to keep it close to OEM?
