Default shift timeing

Im getting a 87 5.0 gt on monday , the only problem is if u try to speed shift from 1 to 2 it will grind but if u shift normal it will not. and can you drop the tranny with out pulling the motor???

the syncs are going id say, and yea, you can drop the tranny without ulling the motor.
